Project Coordinator – Green Project

About the role

The Project Coordinator will lead the 28‑month GREEN Project, a climate‑smart initiative that supports sustainable non‑timber forest product enterprises across Eastern Uganda. Reporting to the Programmes Director/Country Director, the role ensures the project is delivered on time, within budget and to the required technical and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic and technical leadership, aligning activities with the approved proposal, logical framework and budget.
• Ensure technical coherence across the five NTFP value chains, incubation, acceleration, cottage‑industry support and market linkage components.
• Translate the approved action into detailed annual, quarterly and monthly implementation plans and manage the critical path.
• Serve as GOAL’s principal operational focal point with AICS, coordinating progress meetings, reporting and site visits.
• Oversee partner due‑diligence, performance management, grant/sub‑grant administration and compliance with AICS/EU contract requirements.
• Manage project finances, budgeting, forecasting, procurement oversight and audit readiness.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team, providing supervision, coaching and performance management.
• Facilitate learning, adaptive management and capture of outcomes for scaling.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Management, Development Studies, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in agriculture, NTFP or market‑development programming in Uganda or East Africa, including at least 5 years at senior technical level.
• Proven experience managing partnerships, consortiums, grants/sub‑grants and third‑party implementers.
• Strong project financial management and procurement oversight skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi‑partner programmes and deliver value for money.
