Project Manager – Food Systems & Economic Self‑Reliance

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a senior Project Manager to lead its Food Systems and Economic Self‑Reliance programme in West Nile, Uganda. The role will provide technical leadership and overall coordination of climate‑smart agriculture, market systems, financial inclusion and nutrition‑sensitive livelihoods interventions for refugees and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full project cycle – start‑up, detailed planning, implementation, monitoring, and close‑out – in line with DRC standards and donor requirements.
• Develop and regularly update implementation, spending and procurement plans, ensuring alignment with agricultural seasons.
• Oversee budget execution, procurement processes and risk‑management activities.
• Coordinate with government authorities, community structures, private‑sector partners and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and sustainability.
• Manage the MEAL system, track performance against outputs and outcomes, and produce timely reports for donors.
• Ensure compliance with donor regulations, DRC policies and gender‑equality and women‑empowerment guidelines.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience (60 months) in project management within humanitarian or development programmes.
• Proven experience in climate‑smart agriculture, market‑oriented food systems or economic self‑reliance projects.
• Strong knowledge of MEAL, risk management and donor compliance frameworks.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
