Project Manager – WASH (OCHA Project)

About the role

The Project Manager – WASH (OCHA Project) will lead the implementation of water, sanitation and hygiene activities for refugees and host communities in the West Nile region of Uganda. Reporting to the Programme Manager, West Nile, the role ensures delivery of quality, accountable and inclusive services in line with donor requirements and humanitarian standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project planning, budgeting, procurement and monitoring to meet OCHA donor guidelines and ZOA standards.
• Supervise three Project Coordinators and three Project Officers, setting performance targets and providing technical coaching.
• Ensure compliance with grant agreements, maintain audit‑ready documentation and report on indicators and financial expenditures.
• Oversee technical WASH interventions, including water supply systems, sanitation facilities and hygiene promotion, ensuring they meet Sphere and national standards.
• Represent ZOA in sector working groups, coordination meetings and district forums, fostering collaboration with UN agencies, local authorities and partner organisations.
• Identify and mitigate operational, financial and safeguarding risks, integrating protection, gender and disability inclusion throughout the project.
