Project Officer – Livestock

About the role

The Project Officer – Livestock will support climate‑smart livestock production and management interventions under the SRM component of the World Vision Integrated program in Uganda. Working from Rhino Camp, the role focuses on improving livestock productivity, animal health, food security, nutrition, household incomes and resilience for refugee and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of climate‑smart livestock production interventions in target areas.
• Promote sustainable husbandry practices, disease prevention, pasture management and climate‑adaptation strategies.
• Support beneficiary households in feeding, breeding, housing and animal welfare improvements.
• Facilitate establishment of fodder production, pasture development and feed‑conservation initiatives.
• Coordinate livestock disease surveillance, vaccination, deworming and treatment campaigns with veterinary authorities.
• Train farmers on basic animal health management and bio‑security practices.
• Supervise Community Based Trainers and ensure activities are approved, monitored and reported according to project plans.

Required profile

• Experience in livestock production, animal health and climate‑resilient agriculture.
• Ability to work closely with district officers, extension workers, livestock farmers and local authorities.
• Strong facilitation and learning‑oriented mindset to drive continuous improvement.
• Capacity to supervise community trainers and report to the Project Coordinator.
