About the role
The Project Officer – Livestock will support the technical implementation of climate‑smart livestock interventions within the SRM component of the WFP Integrated program. Working from the Rhino Camp office, you will help improve livestock productivity, animal health, and household resilience for refugee and host communities in Uganda.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of climate‑smart livestock production activities in target areas.
- Promote sustainable husbandry practices, disease prevention, and pasture management.
- Support beneficiaries in improving feeding, breeding, housing, and animal welfare.
- Facilitate the introduction of improved breeds and climate‑resilient livestock technologies.
- Coordinate with district veterinary, agriculture and community development officers, extension workers, and local authorities.
- Monitor, report and ensure compliance with donor and World Vision Uganda policies.
- Supervise Community Based Trainers and provide on‑the‑ground technical guidance.
Required profile
- Minimum three years of relevant experience in livestock production, animal health or agricultural development.
- Experience working with refugee or host communities in a humanitarian context.
- Strong knowledge of climate‑smart agriculture and livestock resilience strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with government officials, NGOs and community stakeholders.
Required skills
- Technical expertise in livestock management and climate‑smart practices.
- Knowledge of disease prevention, pasture management and feed conservation.
- Experience in facilitating training and capacity‑building activities.
