Protection Officer

About the role

The Women Human Rights Defenders Network Uganda is seeking a qualified Protection Officer to coordinate and deliver protection programmes for women human rights defenders across Uganda. The role involves emergency support, capacity‑building, rapid response interventions and robust monitoring and evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement protection programs for women human rights defenders, including emergency support and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Design and execute rapid response interventions for urgent protection needs.
• Organise and facilitate training, workshops and awareness sessions for programme participants.
• Ensure programme activities align with organisational objectives and donor requirements.
• Develop comprehensive monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools and indicators to track progress, outcomes and impact.
• Design and implement data collection methods such as surveys, interviews, focus groups and participatory assessments.
• Collect, analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to assess effectiveness and relevance of protection interventions.
• Prepare periodic reports, dashboards and presentations highlighting achievements, challenges and recommendations.
• Document and disseminate lessons learned, best practices and case studies.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least three years of experience in protection or human‑rights programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate emergency support and capacity‑building activities.
• Strong analytical skills for monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
