Quality and Hygiene Officer

About the role

The Quality and Hygiene Officer works at the head office of MAF Retail in Uganda and is responsible for implementing hygiene and food safety standards across all areas of the store's operations, while also helping to deliver a best-in-class shopping experience.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect quality and food safety standards and drive continuous improvement
• Oversee the implementation of internal quality standards
• Keep accurate documentation to monitor quality and hygiene
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of food safety and hygiene
• Conduct annual audits and make sure corrective actions are put in place
• Ensure fresh foods are stored according to set standards and procedures
• Check food storage equipment against health and safety requirements
• Manage the segregation, storage and timely removal of all waste

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in food science and technology or equivalent
• Certification in food safety or a relevant qualification
• 0-2 years of experience in a related function
• Highly organised with strong multitasking skills
• Ability to adapt to a multicultural environment
• Excellent listening ability and high attention to detail
