Regional Agriculture Officer – Arua District

About the role

The Regional Agriculture Officer provides technical leadership and coordination for agriculture extension work—including cropping and livestock—across multiple districts in the region, following Raising The Village’s core methodology. The role focuses heavily on training, capacity‑building and harmonisation of extension services.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate harmonisation trainings for Government Extension Officers through identified Master Trainers and deliver virtual trainings region‑wide.
• Collaborate with the Venn team, procurement, program staff, local authorities and Master Trainers to ensure technically sound agriculture interventions.
• Support the design of regional adaptive clusters, introduce relevant agricultural innovations and oversee pilot projects.
• Maintain standard demonstration gardens across the region as reference models.

Required profile

• University degree in Agriculture (crop and animal husbandry, agribusiness, etc.); postgraduate diploma is an advantage.
• 3–5 years of experience in agricultural programming, including coordination or training across multiple districts.
• Experience in community development and strong facilitation skills to convey scientific information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to travel up to 80% of the time and work independently as well as within a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• Knowledge of organic pesticide application and prevention measures.
• Expertise in soil, crop and pest management.
