Regional Agriculture Officer – Central Region

About the role

The Regional Agriculture Officer provides technical leadership and coordination for agriculture extension work—including cropping and livestock—across multiple districts in the Central Region as part of RTV's core methodology. The role focuses on training and capacity‑building, coordinating harmonisation trainings for government extension officers, building the capacity of RTV staff, and delivering virtual trainings region‑wide.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver harmonisation trainings for Government Extension Officers through identified Master Trainers.
• Collaborate with the Venn team, procurement, program staff, local authorities, and Master Trainers to ensure technically sound agriculture interventions.
• Support the design of regional adaptive clusters and introduce relevant agricultural innovations.
• Oversee agricultural pilot projects and maintain standard demonstration gardens as reference models.
• Run virtual training sessions on the full agriculture methodology for extension staff across the region.

Required profile

• University degree in Agriculture (animal and crop husbandry, production, agribusiness, technology or related field); postgraduate diploma is a plus.
• 3–5 years of experience in agricultural work, including coordination or training across multiple districts.
• Experience in community development programming and strong facilitation skills.
• Ability to travel up to 80% of the time, hike on high terrain, and work independently or as part of a team.
• Fluent in English and local languages where RTV operates.
