Regional Agriculture Officer – Kyenjojo District

About the role

The Regional Agriculture Officer provides technical leadership and coordination for agriculture extension work—including cropping and livestock—across multiple districts in the region. The role focuses on training and capacity‑building, coordinating harmonisation trainings for Government Extension Officers, building the capacity of RTV implementation staff, and delivering virtual trainings on the full agriculture methodology.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver harmonisation trainings for Government Extension Officers through identified Master Trainers.
• Build agricultural capacity of RTV staff and run virtual region‑wide trainings.
• Collaborate with the Venn team, procurement, program staff, local authorities, Master Trainers and Government partners to ensure technically sound interventions.
• Support the design of regional adaptive clusters, introduce relevant agricultural innovations, and oversee pilot projects.
• Maintain standard demonstration gardens as reference models across the region.

Required profile

• University degree in Agriculture (animal and crop husbandry, production, agribusiness, technology or related field); postgraduate diploma is an advantage.
• 3–5 years of experience in agricultural work, including coordination or training across multiple districts.
• Experience in community development programming and understanding of organic pesticide, soil, crop and pest management.
• Proven ability to design and deliver trainings to diverse stakeholder groups, including virtual delivery.
• Strong facilitation, communication (English and local languages) and organisational skills.
