Registered Nurse – PreOp/PACU (PRN)

About the role

Novamed is seeking a Registered Nurse on a PRN basis to support patients in a same‑day surgery setting. The role focuses on pre‑operative and post‑anesthesia care, ensuring safe and compassionate nursing care for surgical patients.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the provision of nursing care for same‑day surgery patients.
• Assume total responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician orders and centre policies.
• Monitor and control the use and charging of supplies utilized in the centre.
• Administer medications and treatments ordered by physicians, documenting all actions.
• Assess pain and nausea needs, provide appropriate medication, and discharge patients per facility policies.
• Maintain patient and employee privacy and confidentiality.
• Provide psychological support to patients and families.
• Coordinate with physicians and external departments such as radiology.
• Perform routine charging of medications and supplies and ensure accurate charge sheets.
• Function independently in emergency situations, making quick, sound decisions.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• Current Registered Nurse license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Experience in a pre‑operative/PACU setting is a plus.
• Commitment to continuing education and CEU re‑licensure requirements.
