Risk and Recovery Officer

About the role

The Risk and Recovery Officer will manage overdue loan portfolios, engage directly with clients to negotiate repayment solutions, and support the company’s credit risk mitigation strategy. This role combines field investigations, collection activities, and coordination with legal partners to protect the institution’s assets.

Key responsibilities

• Review daily loan reports to identify overdue payments, delinquent accounts, and emerging credit risks.
• Contact clients via phone, email, or face‑to‑face visits to understand financial challenges and arrange repayment plans.
• Conduct field visits to inspect securities or collaterals and coordinate asset liquidation or repossession when permitted.
• Prepare legal cases, manage relationships with court bailiffs or external debt collectors, and ensure compliance with legal procedures.
• Maintain accurate collection records, reconcile recovered cash, and advise management on chronic defaulters or potential write‑offs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in microfinance, banking, finance, business administration or a related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for handling difficult client interactions.
• Problem‑solving ability to evaluate risk trends and propose viable solutions under pressure.
• High professional ethics and knowledge of local lending laws, microfinance operations, and credit policies.
• Willingness to travel daily for field visits.
