Room Technician – Guest Room Maintenance

About the role

The Room Technician is responsible for maintaining the appearance, functionality, and safety of guest rooms, meeting rooms and public areas in a Marriott hotel. This full‑time position ensures that all rooms meet the brand’s standards through routine preventative maintenance, minor repairs and thorough cleaning.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks such as mattress flipping, bed‑frame assembly, vacuuming under furniture and spot‑cleaning upholstery.
• Replace light fixtures, inspect and repair grout, caulking and other finishes.
• Carry out minor repairs including tightening toilet seats, changing bulbs, patching wall holes and basic plumbing fixes.
• Clean all guest‑room surfaces – tubs, tiles, hard floors, windows, mirrors – to hotel standards.
• Report any serious maintenance issues, safety hazards or unusual findings to the supervisor immediately.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, maintain a professional appearance and protect confidential information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Less than one year of related maintenance or housekeeping experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lb unaided and assist with heavier items when needed.
• Willingness to stand, walk or sit for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting and stooping.

Required skills

• Basic maintenance and repair techniques (plumbing, carpentry, electrical fixture replacement).
• Operation of cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers).
• Ability to read and follow preventative‑maintenance procedures.
• Attention to detail for touch‑up painting, furniture inspection and hardware checks.
