Safety Specialist

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Safety Specialist to support a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety program that complies with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in creating and executing a Safety Program aligned with safety practices and regulations.
• Conduct site safety inspections and prepare Safety and Monitoring Reports.
• Investigate incidents, produce detailed reports, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate safety records for assets and ensure proper documentation.
• Monitor safety‑related activities to prevent, mitigate, and control hazards.
• Perform risk assessments and implement corrective measures.
• Provide safety training and guidance to employees.
• Identify best practices for accident prevention and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with management to align safety objectives with operational goals.
• Stay current on relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safety program implementation, workplace safety operations, and inspections.
• Familiarity with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual.
• Ability to prepare detailed safety reports and conduct incident investigations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and administrative skills with attention to detail.
• Valid passport and ability to travel as required.
