Security Officer

About the role

The Security Officer will protect Finance Trust Bank’s physical infrastructure, staff and assets at the head office in Kampala. The role focuses on operational risk mitigation, compliance with Central Bank safety regulations and coordination of third‑party security providers.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily readiness of integrated security systems including high‑definition CCTV, biometric access control, dual‑intervention intrusion alarms and fire‑suppression equipment.
• Conduct routine patrols and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate threats to banking halls, vaults and back‑office areas.
• Analyse local and corporate threat landscapes and advise senior management on preventive measures.
• Enforce zero‑trust access control for staff, contractors and visitors, maintaining accurate logs and temporary credentials.
• Manage dual‑custody procedures for cash‑in‑transit, high‑value assets and critical IT equipment.
• Lead incident response during security breaches, medical emergencies or other critical events, and coordinate investigations with law enforcement.
• Monitor performance of contracted guard forces, ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
• Prepare and present monthly security operation reports, including system uptime, incidents and recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
• Minimum three years of security experience, preferably in a financial institution.
• High integrity, strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations.
