Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the electrical quality assurance and technical oversight for a 24‑month construction project in Kampala, Uganda. Reporting to the project manager, the incumbent ensures that all electrical works comply with design documents, standards, and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical inspections of electrical installations, including power distribution, transformers, switchgear, utility poles, panel boards, lighting and demolition works.
• Monitor the contractor’s quality‑control and safety programmes, ensuring corrective actions are taken promptly.
• Review and approve engineering shop drawings, sub‑mittals and design calculations for compliance with contract specifications.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and design narratives across disciplines.
• Track construction progress against schedule and produce weekly progress reports with technical recommendations.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to resolve design conflicts and ensure proper integration.

Required profile

• Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited university.
• Minimum 84 months (7 years) of senior‑level experience in building construction and onsite power distribution.
• Proven experience inspecting large‑scale electrical systems and managing contractor quality assurance.
• Ability to read and assess design drawings, calculations and specifications.
• Experience with telecommunication and technical security systems is desirable.
