Senior Specialist – Livelihoods & Climate Programming

About the role

The Senior Specialist Livelihoods and Climate Programming will lead the design and delivery of high‑impact programmes aimed at reducing child poverty in Uganda. This senior position combines strategic planning, technical programme design, and partnership development across emergency and development contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans to address child poverty through livelihoods and climate‑adaptive interventions.
• Lead technical design, implementation, and monitoring of programmes in both emergency and development settings.
• Support national advocacy efforts and influence policy aligned with the Uganda Country Strategic Plan.
• Build and nurture strategic partnerships to generate new business opportunities.
• Design and oversee monitoring and evaluation systems to capture impact and share learning.
• Collaborate with operations teams and local partners to strengthen capacity, ownership, and agency of organisations.
• Represent the organisation externally on priority issues defined by the country strategy.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in livelihoods and climate‑adaptive programming, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans for child‑focused initiatives.
• Strong background in advocacy, partnership building, and business development.
• Demonstrated experience designing and managing monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with donors, government, and local NGOs.
