Senior Tax Associate

About the role

Ardenfield Consult (U) Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Associate to support tax audit, advisory and dispute engagements for its Ugandan clients. The role involves handling URA audits, compliance reviews, investigations, assessments and objections while identifying tax exposures and compliance risks.

Key responsibilities

• Support clients during URA tax audits, compliance checks and investigations.
• Review URA audit findings, tax computations and assessment notices.
• Prepare technical responses to URA queries, objections and supporting evidence.
• Track assessments, objections and agreed actions through to resolution.
• Research and apply Ugandan tax legislation, regulations and practice notes.
• Analyse general ledgers, trial balances, payrolls and financial statements to identify tax exposures.
• Reconcile VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Income Tax and other tax records.
• Provide technical tax input to financial audit teams and advise on tax planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Law, Taxation or a related field.
• At least 4 years of practical Ugandan tax experience, including direct involvement with URA audits and objections.
• Strong knowledge of Income Tax, Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, EFRIS and other relevant Ugandan taxes.
• Ability to analyse general ledgers and financial statements from a tax perspective.
• Excellent communication, client‑handling abilities and high integrity.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and data‑analysis skills.
