Sewing Machine Operator (Full‑time)

About the role

The Sewing Machine Operator role is a full‑time, on‑site position at Akram Tailor in Kawaala Central. You will operate sewing machines to stitch, alter, and repair garments according to customer measurements and design specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Operate industrial and domestic sewing machines to stitch, alter, and repair garments.
• Cut fabric, assemble garment pieces, perform fittings, and make adjustments for proper fit and finish.
• Maintain sewing equipment, select appropriate threads and materials, and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Collaborate with tailoring staff, follow work orders and deadlines, and interact with customers to clarify requirements.

Required profile

• Proficiency in operating industrial and domestic sewing machines, including threading, tension adjustment, and basic maintenance.
• Strong garment construction skills such as cutting, stitching, hemming, and finishing various fabrics.
• Ability to take accurate body measurements and translate them into patterns or adjustments.
• Experience with alterations and repairs, including resizing, replacing zippers, buttons, and adjusting seams.
• Attention to detail, good time management, and ability to handle multiple orders while meeting timelines.
