About the role
Medair is seeking a Shelter Project Manager to plan, develop, monitor and evaluate shelter projects in humanitarian settings. The role involves designing projects, writing proposals, and ensuring delivery within objectives, timeframe and budget while providing technical support and leadership.
Key responsibilities
- Manage assigned shelter projects to meet objectives, budget and schedule.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction, ensuring short‑ and long‑term positive impacts for beneficiaries and local authorities.
- Develop and implement shelter strategies, set objectives and indicators, and monitor progress using quantitative and qualitative data.
- Line‑manage shelter staff, facilitate meetings, and provide coaching, training and performance appraisals.
- Oversee the shelter budget, ensure financial accountability and compliance with Medair standards.
- Maintain transparent communication with internal teams, beneficiaries, community leaders, government officials and partner NGOs.
Required profile
- Higher‑level qualification in civil engineering, architecture or construction management (BSc/BEng desirable).
- Minimum 2 years post‑qualification professional experience, including management in a construction or humanitarian context.
- Strong English language skills, both spoken and written.
- Knowledge of humanitarian standards such as Sphere and HAP.
- Ability to work in basic field living conditions and travel as required.
