About the role
The Social Policy Specialist will strengthen evidence generation and use to inform child‑focused policies and programmes in Uganda. Working under the Chief of Social Policy, the incumbent will coordinate surveys, improve data management, and support advocacy for better social protection and public finance outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Improve data on child poverty and vulnerability to increase its use for policy and programme action.
- Strengthen social protection coverage and impact for children.
- Enhance the use of public financial resources for child‑focused investments.
- Build capacity of local governments to plan, budget, consult on, and monitor child‑focused social services.
- Foster partnerships and deliver high‑quality evidence products to support advocacy and decision‑making.
Required profile
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Data Science, Operational Research, Public Policy or related fields.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in social policy, child poverty, public finance, survey research or data analysis, preferably in a developing‑country context.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
