Special Support English Teacher – Primary (Upper & Lower)

About the role

The Special Support English Teacher will work with a group of English Language Learners in upper and lower primary classes, helping them improve their English proficiency to fully engage with the UNEB curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Review diagnostic assessments, student work and teacher reports to determine each learner’s English level.
• Develop termly schemes of work, weekly planners, worksheets and other materials tailored to individual needs.
• Provide in‑class support and pull‑out sessions to enhance reading and language skills.
• Utilise e‑learning tools, with approval, to further develop English abilities.
• Monitor daily progress and submit weekly individual progress reports to senior staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education (English) or a BA with a recognised TEFL/TESOL qualification.
• At least two years of experience teaching English to non‑native speakers, preferably beginners.
• Empathetic, compassionate and patient approach to supporting English Language Learners.
• Ability to work independently and with small groups of learners.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.
• Experience working with refugees is an advantage.
