Special Support Mathematics Teacher (IGCSE)

About the role

The Special Support Mathematics Teacher will work with secondary‑aged multilingual learners to rebuild essential mathematical understanding, preparing them for Cambridge Lower Secondary and IGCSE Mathematics. The role focuses on developing confidence, reasoning and problem‑solving through learner‑centred, differentiated instruction.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify strengths and learning gaps.
• Design and deliver a structured bridging programme aligned with Cambridge Lower Secondary and IGCSE pathways.
• Deliver engaging, learner‑centred lessons using differentiated instructional strategies.
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching resources, homework and assessments.
• Monitor learner progress through continuous assessment and maintain individual learner profiles.
• Provide targeted intervention and remedial support for learners needing additional assistance.
• Prepare regular progress reports and give constructive feedback.
• Foster a positive learning environment that builds confidence, resilience and a growth mindset.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education or a related field.
• Training in differentiated instruction and learner‑centred teaching methodologies.
• Familiarity with Cambridge Lower Secondary and/or Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics curricula.
• Minimum three years of teaching experience, preferably with learners aged 11‑15.
• Experience supporting learners with learning gaps or providing remedial education.
• Empathetic, compassionate and patient approach to teaching mathematics.
• Willingness to take direction and adopt new teaching methods.
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.
