Supply Chain Lead, Uganda

About the role

The Vaccine Supply Chain Lead will guide Thinkwell’s technical assistance to Uganda’s Ministry of Health (UNEPI) for adapting and rolling out the vaccine Last‑Mile Distribution (vLMD) strategy across all 136 districts. Reporting to the Thinkwell Project Manager, the Lead will combine deep vaccine logistics expertise with hands‑on team leadership to improve vaccine availability at the last mile.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt the national vLMD strategy to the Ugandan context in close collaboration with UNEPI.
• Plan and execute the nationwide roll‑out, including district‑level sequencing, training, and capacity‑building.
• Oversee mapping of distribution points and develop optimized route plans using GIS and other tools.
• Monitor implementation, document lessons learned, and recommend refinements to enhance stock availability and management.
• Lead communication with Gavi partners, district health teams, and other stakeholders.
• Supervise Thinkwell’s district coordination and technical staff, ensuring timely and quality deliverables.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 7 years of experience in vaccine or health‑commodity supply chains.
• Proven track record in last‑mile distribution, route optimization, and logistics planning.
• Experience working with ministries of health, Gavi, or similar international partners.
• Current residence in Uganda or legal right to work in Uganda.
