About the role

Ecobank Uganda is looking for an experienced System Developer to design, develop and implement secure, scalable, high‑performance software solutions that support the bank’s fintech initiatives. The role combines hands‑on coding with technical leadership, mentoring of development teams and contribution to system architecture.

Key responsibilities

Design, develop and deploy scalable micro‑services and RESTful APIs.
Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications.
Write, review, optimise and maintain high‑quality code across multiple languages.
Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards and best practices.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA engineers and other stakeholders in Agile ceremonies.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies, frameworks and development tools.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive automation and testing improvements.

Required profile

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
5–8 years of hands‑on software development experience with a strong project portfolio.
Proven ability to provide technical leadership and mentor engineers.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

Programming languages: Java, Python, C#, JavaScript.
Frameworks: Spring Boot, Django.NET, Angular, React, Kotlin, Vue.js.
Architectures: Microservices, RESTful APIs, distributed systems.
Databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra.
Messaging: Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS.
Containerisation & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
CI/CD and DevOps tools.
Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Automated testing frameworks and debugging tools.
