Talent Scientist – Graduate Lead

About the role
Canonical is seeking a Talent Scientist to lead its graduate hiring initiatives in Kampala. The role combines partnership building with academic institutions, data‑driven talent analytics, and a scientific approach to recruitment.
Key responsibilities
- Build partnerships with leading academic institutions to raise awareness of graduate opportunities.
- Create compelling propositions to attract top talent to Canonical.
- Drive talent analytics and provide real‑time insights to streamline hiring processes.
- Conduct in‑depth behavioural interviews and deliver actionable insights.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders, monitor hiring activities and ensure consistency across processes.
- Review and optimise hiring tools and processes, working with external platforms to maximise ROI.
- Champion diversity and inclusion by removing unconscious bias from recruitment.
Required profile
- Academic background (Bachelors or Masters) in Psychology or a people‑focused discipline.
- Experience hiring talent in the technology sector, especially for graduate programmes.
- Data‑driven mindset with ability to generate measurable outcomes using SQL.
- Familiarity with psychometric assessments and their interpretation.
- Proven ability to conduct behavioural and competency‑based interviews and train stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and self‑motivation to work remotely.
- Willingness to travel for company events a few times a year.
