Team Leader – Climate and Food Security

About the role

The Climate and Food Security Team Leader will oversee technical quality and due‑diligence of all activities within the Danish Refugee Council’s Food Systems and Economic Self‑Reliance project across six districts in north‑west Uganda. The role includes supervising staff, coordinating with local authorities, refugee and host‑community structures, and ensuring the delivery of climate‑smart, nutrition‑sensitive interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day coordination, administration and budgeting of the project in the designated districts.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, national policies and DRC internal procedures.
• Provide technical leadership for climate‑smart and regenerative agriculture, soil‑water conservation, post‑harvest management and farmer training.
• Oversee nutrition‑sensitive activities such as kitchen gardening, permaculture and nutrition education for refugee households.
• Guide market‑system interventions, including value‑chain development, aggregation, collective marketing and market linkage facilitation.
• Support financial‑inclusion approaches for farmer groups and maintain relationships with implementing partners.
• Represent the programme in coordination forums, donor meetings and stakeholder engagements.

Required profile

• Relevant higher‑education qualification in agriculture, environmental science, food security or a related field.
• Proven experience managing multi‑district agricultural programmes, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong knowledge of climate‑smart and regenerative agriculture practices.
• Experience working with refugee and host‑community structures and local government authorities.
