Technical Director – GUARD Program

About the role

International Medical Corps is seeking a senior technical leader to head the GUARD program in Kamwokya, Uganda. The role provides strategic direction and oversight for all technical components of the health project, ensuring alignment with global standards and local needs.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the overall technical strategy, theory of change and results framework for the GUARD program.
• Oversee design, planning and implementation of infectious disease surveillance, IPC, HCID readiness, screening, triage, isolation and referral pathways.
• Monitor consortium partners and IMC implementation against workplans, identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
• Provide high‑quality technical guidance, develop SOPs, guidelines and training materials for staff and partners.
• Coordinate consortium activities, facilitate technical meetings and ensure integrated contributions from all partners.
• Lead adaptive management and technical quality assurance, including development of checklists, performance metrics and M/E frameworks.

Required profile

• Executive‑level experience (minimum 12 years) in health technical leadership, preferably in humanitarian or NGO settings.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑partner projects and deliver results in complex, security‑sensitive environments.
• Strong understanding of global health standards such as CDC guidelines.
