Technical Lead – Renewable Energy Projects

About the role
The Technical Lead will coordinate early‑stage technical project‑development activities for NKISI in Uganda, focusing on renewable‑energy and industrial infrastructure projects. The role involves assessing client needs, evaluating engineering options and delivering clear technical recommendations to support feasibility and investment decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct industrial energy assessments: attend client meetings, review electricity bills and load profiles, estimate demand and peak load, and evaluate solar PV, battery storage, grid integration and hybrid‑energy options.
- Prepare technical summaries and cost assumptions to support client discussions, Letters of Intent and feasibility decisions.
- Identify and screen potential renewable‑energy sites: analyse solar resources, land availability, grid proximity, environmental constraints and expansion potential; record site data and recommend next steps.
- Define information requirements for pre‑feasibility and feasibility studies, support scope development and coordinate external consultants.
- Manage advisers and consultants, oversee preliminary design work and regulatory preparation.
- Produce technical risk assessments and system requirement documents.
Required profile
- Proven experience in renewable‑energy or industrial energy project development.
- Strong analytical ability to interpret load profiles, electricity consumption data and technical studies.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical findings to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience managing feasibility studies and external consultants.
- Willingness to travel to client and project sites across Uganda.
