UN Coordination and Normative Consultant

About the role

The Coordination and Normative Consultant will provide strategic and technical leadership to advance UN Women’s gender coordination and normative mandates in Uganda. Reporting to the Country Representative, the consultant will work closely with the Deputy Representative and UN Country Team to ensure effective inter‑governmental engagement and accountability for gender equality.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and develop strategic briefs, concept notes, and position papers to support UN Women’s coordination and normative priorities.
• Lead and coordinate Uganda Country Office participation in inter‑governmental processes such as CEDAW, Beijing+30, UPR, CSW and the SDG agenda.
• Offer advisory support to UN Area Coordination locations and partners on human‑rights treaty mechanisms and accountability frameworks.
• Coordinate inputs to UN Country Team reports, normative assessments and joint accountability mechanisms.
• Facilitate inclusive engagement of women’s rights organisations and civil‑society actors in policy and accountability processes.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least five years of experience in gender equality, UN system coordination or normative engagement.
• Demonstrated experience in managing inter‑governmental processes, producing strategic documents and providing high‑level advisory support.
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to develop partnerships with government, UN agencies, donors and civil‑society stakeholders.
