Unit Manager – Insurance Sales Team Lead

About the role

The Unit Manager will lead a team of insurance agents at NIC Insurance’s head office in Kampala. You will be responsible for recruiting, training, coaching and managing at least 15 active agents to meet sales, productivity and retention targets while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, train and motivate a unit of a minimum of 15 active agents.
• Achieve unit production, productivity and persistency targets.
• Conduct field supervision and hold weekly team meetings and daily hurdle sessions.
• Identify training needs and arrange relevant training for the sales team.
• Submit weekly progress reports and ensure compliance with the Insurance Regulatory Authority licensing requirements.
• Develop and implement effective sales strategies and monitor policy persistency.
• Observe and adhere to the Company Code of Ethics and all applicable laws and policies.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Insurance, Finance, Economics, Commerce or related field (or a relevant diploma with proven sales management experience).
• Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Insurance or willingness to obtain it within the stipulated period and registration with the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda.
• Minimum 2–3 years experience in sales, insurance, marketing or financial services, with at least one year of experience leading or mentoring a sales team.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, motivate and manage a sales team and a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
