WASH Specialist (P-3) – Technical Assistance, Kampala

About the role

The WASH Specialist (P-3) will be based in the UNICEF Uganda Country Office, supporting the design, implementation and monitoring of the KOICA‑funded climate‑resilient WASH programme in Karamoja. The role combines technical guidance, programme management and partnership coordination to ensure effective delivery of safe, inclusive and sustainable WASH services in schools and health facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design evidence‑based WASH and climate programmes and integrate them into the country programme.
• Track implementation, resources and results, ensuring timely delivery and quality assurance.
• Provide technical guidance, resolve operational bottlenecks and support programme implementation.
• Support humanitarian WASH preparedness and emergency response activities.
• Strengthen partnerships, advocacy and resource mobilisation with government, KOICA and other stakeholders.
• Promote learning, innovation and capacity development through knowledge management.
• Integrate climate‑resilience and sustainability considerations into all WASH interventions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Public Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, Climate Studies or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in WASH, programme management, monitoring & evaluation, partnerships, or climate‑action.
• At least 1 year of deployment experience in a developing country.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or a local language is an asset.
