About the role
Canonical is looking for a Web Developer to join its team in Kampala. The role focuses on building modern web applications and collaborating with UX designers and backend developers. You will work on responsive interfaces across multiple devices and browsers.
Required profile
- University degree or equivalent education
- Based in EMEA timezones (Europe, Middle East, Africa)
- Curiosity about technology and a thirst to learn
- No prior experience required (entry‑level)
Required skills
- HTML, CSS and SCSS
- JavaScript and TypeScript
- Experience with JavaScript component libraries and React (with TypeScript)
- Responsive UI development for various devices and browsers
- Version control using Git
- Understanding of SEO best practices and web accessibility
- Knowledge of web performance optimisation
- Familiarity with Linux desktop technologies
- Server‑side languages such as Python or NodeJS
- Open‑source contributions
