Credit Officer

About the role

The Credit Officer will drive quality credit business, build strong customer relationships and manage an assigned loan portfolio. The role involves customer acquisition, business development, credit appraisal, portfolio management and collections while ensuring compliance with credit and risk policies.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and acquire new customers and business opportunities, maintaining a strong sales pipeline.
• Achieve a minimum monthly disbursement target of UGX 150 million.
• Assess customers' credit needs and repayment capacity, preparing and following up credit applications through approval and disbursement.
• Monitor loan portfolio performance, conduct follow‑ups and collection activities on overdue accounts.
• Maintain portfolio quality with PAR 30, PAR 60, PAR 90 and NPL below 5% and ensure compliance with KYC, AML, credit policies and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Microfinance or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in credit, lending, microfinance, banking or financial services.
• Demonstrated experience in customer acquisition, loan appraisal, portfolio management and collections.
• Strong sales, relationship management, credit appraisal and analytical abilities.
• High integrity, accountability and professionalism.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with credit/loan management systems.
