Anesthetic Officer – Full‑time at CURE Children’s Hospital

About the role

The Anesthetic Officer will provide operative anesthesia for both emergency and elective surgical cases at CURE Children’s Hospital of Uganda. Working under the supervision of the anesthesiologist, the officer ensures safe, efficient and patient‑centred care throughout the peri‑operative period.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver anesthesia for emergency and elective surgeries, including pre‑ and post‑operative patient management.
• Participate in departmental devotional activities before operating‑room services.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and medical records.
• Advocate for patient safety during all phases of care.
• Conduct or assist comprehensive pre‑anesthetic assessments, reviewing history, physical exam, labs, medications and peri‑operative risk.
• Request or facilitate appropriate pre‑operative investigations and specialist consultations within scope of practice.
• Prepare and verify anesthesia equipment and supplies prior to procedures.

Required profile

• Experienced individual with a background in anesthesia care.
• Full‑time availability for a fixed‑term contract.
• Ability to work on‑site at the Mbale hospital.
• Reports to the anesthesiologist; no supervisory duties.
