Apprentice - Infrastructure Support Specialist (6-Month Contract)

About the role

Absa is offering a 6-month apprenticeship as an Infrastructure Support Specialist. The role covers the administration, support and maintenance of all country-hosted infrastructure, including virtual servers, physical servers, storage and backup servers, keeping systems secure, stable and performing at acceptable operational levels.

Key responsibilities

• Servers and platforms support: provision and troubleshooting of servers, scheduling and reviewing daily backups, routine maintenance of servers, workstations and network devices, and monitoring resource utilization and performance
• Support IT system audits, security measures (access control, server configuration management), change management, and information security guidelines; support IT service management, migrations, upgrades and deployments, and end-user hardware maintenance
• Test management: work with Release Analysts, run installation, functional, performance, integration and UAT tests, coordinate back-out and post-release testing, and compile and review test results
• Risk management: support the country IT Risk and Governance team and help improve governance, risk, controls and compliance
• People management: drive own performance development, prepare for reviews, use a skills matrix to plan training and complete it within agreed timescales

Required profile

• Degree classification: First Class or Second-Class Upper
• O'Level results: Credit or higher in both Mathematics and English
• A'Level results: at least two principal passes
• Higher certificates and Advanced National (Vocational) Certificates in Business, Commerce and Management Studies (required)
