Area Coordinator – West Nile

About the role

The Area Coordinator will provide strategic oversight and operational leadership for HEKS/EPER’s programmes in the West Nile region of Uganda. Based in Yumbe, the role ensures high‑quality design, implementation and monitoring of multi‑sectoral interventions in livelihoods, conflict transformation, protection and climate adaptation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, planning and quality implementation of humanitarian and development programmes across thematic areas.
• Ensure projects follow the humanitarian‑development nexus approach and align with HEKS/EPER’s strategic objectives, donor requirements and national frameworks.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight to field teams in Zombo, Yumbe, Obongi and Koboko, ensuring coherence, timeliness and impact.
• Oversee the full project cycle, from kick‑off through monitoring, reviews and close‑out.
• Coordinate closely with grants, finance, logistics and MEAL units to guarantee compliance, safeguarding and accountability.
• Represent HEKS/EPER in coordination platforms, build partnerships with sectoral stakeholders and support field staff to deliver community‑driven results.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., Development Studies, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies) or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in programme management within humanitarian or development contexts, preferably in Uganda or similar settings.
• Strong understanding of livelihoods, protection, conflict transformation and climate adaptation interventions.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and coordinate with donors and partners.
• Excellent communication, analytical and reporting skills.
