Assistant Technician (Cadaver Attendant), Human Anatomy

About the role

Makerere University is recruiting an Assistant Technician (Cadaver Attendant) for its Department of Human Anatomy in Kampala, reporting to the Head of Department. The post ensures standard operating procedures are followed in the laboratory and involves handling teaching specimens and cadavers for teaching and research.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and organise workplace equipment and facilities.
• Implement guidelines and regulations to ensure workplace safety.
• Assist in preparing students' practicals.
• Keep records of materials used in the workplace.
• Collect human cadavers from the hospital for teaching and research.
• Procure, prepare and dispose of teaching specimens such as human skeletons, whole-body cadaveric specimens, prosections and histology slides.
• Take part in embalming human bodies for teaching purposes and community service.
• Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Ordinary diploma in Laboratory Sciences.
• Age limit: applicants must not exceed 55 years at the time of application.
• Tenure of appointment: 4-year contract.
