Training Lead
Amotech Africa · Kampala
Job description
About the role
Amotech Africa is looking for a Training Lead in Kampala to establish and run its Training business unit. The role covers setting up the operating model, developing curricula, delivering training programmes and driving revenue through business development, working closely with regional sales teams across East Africa.
Key responsibilities
- Establish the Training business unit, including its operating model, processes, policies and quality standards aligned with ISO 9001:2015.
- Conduct Training Needs Analyses (TNAs) for existing and prospective clients across all regions to identify priority programmes.
- Develop training curricula from scratch, using in-house expertise, OEM partner content and industry best practice.
- Identify, onboard and coach internal subject-matter experts (engineers, lab staff, project leads) as trainers and co-facilitators, reducing reliance on OEM-only delivery.
- Own and deliver the training unit's revenue target, growing it year on year through business development.
- Package training offerings into clear products with pricing, scope and outcomes, and present them to clients with the regional sales teams.
- Collaborate with sales teams in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, DRC and Ethiopia to find opportunities, co-develop proposals and keep the training calendar aligned with demand.
- Support sales in client meetings, tenders and proposals where training is part of the offering.
- Develop marketing materials, case studies, course brochures and digital content with Marketing & Communications, and contribute to webinars, LinkedIn content and industry events.
- Manage the annual training calendar, coordinate scheduling with OEM partners, in-house trainers, sales teams and clients, and deliver classroom, hands-on and on-site programmes.
- Track and report KPIs to the COO: revenue, gross margin, attendance, pass rates, client satisfaction and regional pipeline.
Required profile
- BSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in technical training, engineering or a test-and-measurement environment.
- Proven ability to build training curricula from scratch and to use internal subject-matter experts as trainers.
- Commercial mindset with a track record in business development, packaging and selling training solutions to B2B clients.
- Experience collaborating with sales and marketing teams; comfort working across multiple countries in a matrixed environment.
- Goal-oriented self-starter able to work independently, manage a pipeline and deliver against a revenue target.
Required skills
- Familiarity with test and measurement equipment, calibration processes or instrumentation (Megger, Fluke, FLIR, Anritsu or similar; OEM products are an advantage).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with LMS platforms is a plus.
- Experience with ISO 9001:2015 quality management processes is an advantage.
