Associate Research Manager – Ethiopia (based in Kampala)

About the role

We are seeking an Associate Research Manager to lead IMPACT Initiatives’ research cycles focused on Ethiopia while based in Kampala. The role supports data‑driven humanitarian interventions across the Horn of Africa, coordinating field assessments, analysis and dissemination.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute research cycles in Ethiopia, including questionnaire design, data collection and analysis.
• Supervise assessment teams and ensure transparent use of project resources.
• Engage with partners, NGOs and local authorities to facilitate participation and data sharing.
• Prepare research reports, briefing notes and visualisations for internal and external audiences.
• Monitor and evaluate research outcomes to inform programme adjustments.

Required profile

• University degree in social sciences, development studies, geography or related field.
• Minimum 2‑3 years experience in humanitarian or development research.
• Demonstrated ability to work in conflict‑affected settings and manage field teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• GIS and remote sensing for spatial analysis.
• Data analysis using statistical software or spreadsheets.
• Experience with data collection tools and survey design.
