Catering Manager – Hillcrest Academy

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and dedicated Catering Manager to lead the in‑house catering service at Hillcrest Academy. The role involves overseeing the daily operation of the academy kitchen and dining facilities, ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene and customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily kitchen and dining operations, maintaining food quality and hygiene standards.
• Lead, motivate and develop a small catering team.
• Manage food production, service, stock control and budgeting.
• Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, HACCP principles and trust policies.
• Promote healthy eating and create a safe, nutritious dining environment for students and staff.

Required profile

• Experience in a busy catering or kitchen environment.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations, hygiene standards and HACCP.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Leadership experience with small teams.
• Experience of stock control, ordering and budget monitoring.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Commitment to high standards of food hygiene and safety.
• Level 2 Food Safety or Food Hygiene Certificate (willingness to achieve Level 3).
• Experience in a school or education setting is desirable.
