Child Protection Officer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a dedicated Child Protection Officer to lead the implementation of child protection interventions across designated settlements. You will work closely with households, community groups, and local authorities to prevent and respond to child rights violations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, budget, and execute child protection programs, including detailed implementation plans, work breakdown structures, and procurement schedules.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement during planning workshops, meetings, and community forums.
• Ensure timely, quality delivery of interventions in line with IRC CP guidance and approved models.
• Gather and analyse community perspectives on child protection issues to inform programming.
• Identify, support, and coordinate with local child protection partners, including para‑social workers.
• Document impact stories and emerging protection concerns.
• Build capacity of children, families, and community structures to engage effectively on child protection matters.

Required profile

• Strong communication, networking, and collaboration abilities.
• Experience in community training and awareness‑raising on child rights.
• Ability to link vulnerable children to appropriate services promptly.
• Proven skill in documenting field experiences and emerging issues.
