Chinese Translator / Interpreter

About the role

We are looking for two professional Chinese‑English Translators/Interpreters to facilitate communication between Chinese‑speaking management and local staff, suppliers, customers and partners at our manufacturing facility in Kampala. The role involves both oral interpretation and written translation in a fast‑paced factory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret spoken Chinese and English accurately during meetings, training sessions, and daily workplace interactions.
• Translate documents, notices, reports, work instructions, emails and other business materials between Chinese and English.
• Assist Chinese‑speaking managers in communicating with local employees, suppliers, customers and government agencies.
• Support production, administration, HR, sales and logistics teams with language coordination.
• Maintain meaning, tone and confidentiality of all translated information.
• Prepare bilingual records and follow up on communication tasks.
• Explain company procedures, safety instructions and operational requirements to employees.
• Identify misunderstandings promptly and clarify information with relevant parties.
• Perform additional translation and administrative duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chinese, Translation, Languages, Business Administration or a related field (preferred).
• Strong spoken and written Chinese and English.
• At least one year of translation, interpretation or bilingual workplace experience.
• Confident interpreting in meetings and practical factory situations.
• Good communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
• Accurate, responsible, patient, discreet and well‑organized.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle confidential information.
• Willingness to work full‑time onsite in Kampala.
