Club and Activities Manager

About the role

The Club and Activities Manager leads the daily operations of a Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) facility, providing both fitness services and bar operations for military personnel and their families. The role combines exercise programming, group classes, and hospitality management in an overseas installation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide exercise guidance, testing, prescription, and supervise fitness users.
• Teach and coordinate group exercise classes.
• Mix and serve alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages according to established recipes.
• Manage bar inventory, ordering, and point‑of‑sale transactions.
• Maintain sanitation standards for bar tools, glassware, and equipment.
• Open and close the bartending station, ensuring cash drawer accountability.
• Oversee staff performance and customer service quality.
• Perform equipment inspections and ensure functional operation.
• Support additional duties as assigned by supervision.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years’ experience coordinating team sports, recreation clubs, or social events.
• MWR or armed‑forces recreation experience preferred.
• Ability to work in remote, potentially uncomfortable conditions with long hours.
• Physical ability to handle moving short‑notice and adverse weather conditions.

Required skills

• Point of Sale (POS) software operation.
• Inventory control and ordering procedures.
• Bar mixing, drink preparation, and knowledge of bar terminology.
• Exercise testing, prescription, and fitness program design.
• CPR and first‑aid certification (preferred).
