Commissioning Mechanical Specialist (TIL)

About the role

The Commissioning Mechanical Specialist (TIL) will report to the Commissioning Mechanical Superintendent and support safe, efficient pre‑commissioning, commissioning, start‑up and performance testing of a Central Processing Facility in Africa. The role provides first‑line supervision of technicians and ensures mechanical activities meet the plant’s production and contractual objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise pre‑commissioning tasks such as oil flushing, final alignment of rotating equipment, loading and closure of stationary equipment.
• Lead commissioning activities for rotating machinery, including test runs and performance tests.
• Develop and execute piping test packs, flushing/cleaning packs, and leak‑testing packs.
• Participate in walk‑down inspections, punch‑listing, cleaning and reinstatement of mechanical/piping systems.
• Record completion of mechanical and piping activities and hand over documentation to the Systems Completion team.
• Review and manage start‑up and two‑year operating spares, supervise spare change‑outs.
• Oversee lubrication, grease requirements, first‑fill lubricants, and motor preparation for solo runs.
• Coordinate with mechanical subcontractors, equipment manufacturers and suppliers for all pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical pre‑commissioning and commissioning of plant equipment.
• Ability to supervise technicians and work collaboratively with project teams and clients.
• Strong understanding of rotating equipment, piping systems and performance testing procedures.
