Counseling Ministry Coordinator

About the role

The Counseling Ministry Coordinator will develop, implement and coordinate a Christ‑centered counseling program at CURE Children’s Hospital of Uganda. Reporting to the Spiritual Ministry Director, the role supports patients, caregivers and staff through biblically grounded, trauma‑informed emotional and spiritual care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual, family and group counseling sessions based on biblical principles and trauma‑informed care.
• Assess spiritual, emotional and psychosocial needs of patients and families and design appropriate interventions.
• Develop and oversee counseling protocols, tools and resources tailored to the hospital context.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to integrate counseling into ward ministry, Hope House programs and discipleship activities.
• Train and mentor volunteers, interns and ministry staff in basic counseling and trauma‑informed skills.
• Maintain confidential counseling records, submit regular reports and monitor outcomes for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Christian Counseling, Psychology or a related field (required); theological or Christian ministry training preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in biblical counseling, trauma care or psychosocial support, preferably with children, families or in a hospital setting.
