Country Director – MSI Uganda

About the role

MSI Reproductive Choices is recruiting a Country Director for its Uganda office, the organisation's most senior representative in the country. The role works closely with government, donors and social business stakeholders to help women and men access safe, affordable and reliable family planning and sexual and reproductive health services. It is accountable for the overall strategy, leadership and management of MSI Uganda, covering programmatic, financial, operational and administrative performance, and leads the delivery of national family planning and sexual and reproductive health programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership aligned with MSI's global strategy and Ministry of Health requirements, and manage the Country Executive/Senior Management Team
• Own the delivery of annual key performance indicators and work with the Africa Regional Support Team
• Ensure HR policies comply with local legislation and best practice
• Grow the healthcare business through clinic and maternity operations, social marketing and health financing partners, and represent MSI externally
• Drive revenue growth, base business plans on accurate financial data, and ensure strong internal controls and donor compliance
• Safeguard resources from fraud, pilferage and wastage
• Keep MSI Uganda registered with local regulators and engage a local Board with at least three meetings a year, including an AGM

Required profile

• Proven track record building relationships with governments, donors, development partners and regulators
• Experience managing a business or business unit through the full cycle, including managing a P&L
• Ability to attract, develop and retain high-performing teams and lead organisational transformation
• Experience acting as principal management interface with a Board
• Relevant postgraduate qualification such as an MBA or MPH
• Minimum of five years' executive-level leadership experience
• Fluency in English; candidates must be unequivocally pro-choice

What we offer

• Fixed-term contract, full-time (40 hours a week, Monday to Friday)
• Salary band BG 12, strictly banded within the local national context
• 3-month notice period
