Data Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team in Uganda. The role is based on‑site and will support vaccine research, clinical studies and production monitoring by building reliable data pipelines and warehousing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain data pipelines that ingest raw data from laboratory instruments, LIMS and ERP systems.
• Implement ETL workflows, clean and transform data for analytical use.
• Create and optimise data models and data warehouse structures to ensure data is accessible and secure.
• Integrate data from field trials, operational processes and research databases.
• Document data architecture, monitor data quality and enforce governance standards.
• Collaborate with R&D, clinical operations, IT and laboratory teams to translate requirements into robust solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience designing scalable data infrastructure in a research, healthcare or agricultural setting is an advantage.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
