Emergency Vehicle Technician

About the role

The Emergency Vehicle Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of fire department apparatus and heavy equipment, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and ready for emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and servicing of fire vehicles, including ARFF and ambulance apparatus.
• Conduct heavy‑equipment maintenance: installation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive upkeep.
• Remove, inspect, and rebuild engines, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems using computerized test equipment.
• Repair air‑conditioning systems, calibrate load‑monitoring indicators, and service crane rigging.
• Rebuild hydraulic cylinders, valves, planetary drives, suspensions, and replace seals, bearings, and axle brakes.
• Document work orders, invoices, and equipment repair records while adhering to safety and hazardous‑waste procedures.
• Act as point‑of‑contact for maintenance issues in the absence of the supervisor.

Required profile

• Minimum two (2) years of heavy‑vehicle maintenance experience in emergency, civilian, military, or tactical environments.
• High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license.
• Prefer EVT Level 1 certification for fire apparatus, ambulance, or ARFF.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb regularly and assist with loads up to 100 lb.
