Hatchery Feeder – Production

About the role

The Hatchery Feeder is responsible for feeding fish in the hatchery, ensuring high survival rates and maintaining optimal water quality. The role involves monitoring fish health, managing feed, and keeping the feeding area clean and organized.

Key responsibilities

• Feed fish the correct amount and type of feed according to the feeding chart.
• Collect and register mortalities and feed usage.
• Monitor feeding behaviour, general health, and water conditions.
• Prepare and clean feeding equipment before and after each shift.
• Weigh and record feed rations, ensuring minimal spillage and wastage.
• Inspect hatchery infrastructure (bird netting, aeration, pond integrity) and report any issues.
• Maintain watertight, storm‑proof feed bins and be accountable for any spills caused by negligence.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Feeding Supervisor.

Required profile

• Diploma in Fisheries Management and Technologies.
• Ability to swim and work comfortably on water.
• Capability to perform simple math calculations for feed rationing.
• Good reading and writing communication skills.
• Highly self‑motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
• Honest, hardworking, and able to collaborate in a team environment.
